2009-02-08 Chronicles of Maura, Feruary 2, 2009

The weather got warm enough this weekend that Maura decided that she wanted to go out to see the city. She was really tired of being stuck inside. She normally has run of the apartment. But when she doesn't, she prefers to visit some of her mom's friends. Her mom happened to have set up a brunch with Becky. Maura really liked Becky. She really liked brunch too. The idea of having a hybrid breakfast and lunch intrigued her. Maura always likened brunch to her own life. She was a duck but also she was people. She was both. In between. And on a Sunday - her favorite day of the week. Maura just didn't want to be brunch.

Maura and her mom treked to Spitzer's.

As her mom and Becky had lunch and talked about all kinds of subjects, work, art, all kinds of topics, maura listened intently.

Here is Maura looking around at the people in the restaurant.

Maura wanted to have a photo taken with her and Becky.

Maura and her mom decided to go to Central Park to walk around. Her mom would do all the walking. Maura liked to be carried around.

Maura and other fellow ducks! She really liked to see all the ducks slipping and sliding around on the frozen layer of ice. They were all quacking around for scraps. Maura really enjoyed watching them.

Ooh more ducks. This must be their form of ice skating.

Maura and her mom walked by the Guggenheim museum, and Maura instantly recognized the distinctive architecture. Maura loves the Kandinsky collection at the Guggenheim.

Maura and her mom kept going up Central park. They passed through a beautiful garden that caught Maura's attention.

How beautiful that even a row of trees - completely removed of leaves can be.
