2008-12-21 Chronicles of Maura, December 21, 2008

Maura was so excited about being in New York at Christmas time with her mom. Although the weather was cold, her mom made sure that she always had a warm blanket. It wasn't the christmas gifts or the food that made her happy during Christmas. It was the energy and electricity that surrounded her. There was so much for all of us to be thankful for at the end of the year. Maura was so thankful for having a mom and grandparents and friends who loved her so much and cared for her well-being. Maura had a warm place to stay, and nice people to interact with at her mom's workplace. The city was not the ideal place for a duck, especially during the winter time. She was happy to be in such good hands.

Maura was indeed a special duck. Maura had the opportunity to travel all over the world, see interesting things and meet very nice people. The whole New York experience was a new chapter in Maura's life.

Here is Maura looking out of the apartment window. She loved all the snow. She has never had to walk through it though. That is why she is smiling!

Maura could count on the love and affection of her mom's friends. Here is Becky holding Maura and sharing positive vibes between each other. Maura really likes Becky.

Here is Maura speaking to Chris. Maura really likes Chris! Maura overheard some comments about Chris and some very important blackberry. Maura was very curious and decided to nose around Chris to see if there was a basket of blackberries hidden somewhere. Maura loves blackberries. She never had any luck finding those blackberries, but she was sure that the must have been delicious.

This weekend, Maura's mom decided that they should go see the city. The weather was cold, but her mom thought it was important that she see the city and all the festivities.

This is Maura posing in front of the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center. She especially likes all the ornaments. They remind her of crunchberries.

Maura notices all the people sliding around the ground, losing all traction. She thought that it was amusing that people were sliding around and falling on their bottoms. Luckily, ducks are low to the ground, so falling simply means a half inch to the ice.

Here is the GE building at Rockefeller Center! Auntie Dani loves the show 30 Rock. I wonder if the show would let Maura be an extra for a few of the episodes?

Maura took a look at the skaters from a different angle.

Later on, Maura and her mom met with Ying and Rich for lunch at an Indian vegetarian restaurant. It was so nice that Ying and Rich decided on a vegetarian restaurant. Maura didn't mind being around people who ate meat. But it was such a kind gesture. Here is Maura posing with Ying and Rich and Rich is helping Maura hold a fork. "Gimme some Dosas! and some Madras Coffee!!!" Maura was quacking out loud.

I didn't know that Ducks drank Coffee. This is Maura in front of her Madras Coffee.

A little help was needed here.

After lunch, Maura's mom decided to take her back to Rockefeller Center.

They both enjoyed the beautiful light s how.

Lots of decorations everywhere!

Lots of people!
Ooh, the christmas tree looks even prettier!
Colorful crunchberries, and yummy sweet popcicles. Yummie!

These people are still sliding around on the ice! Amazing!

After about 20 minutes, Maura had enough. She was starting to get cold, and wanted to get back into her mom's backpack. It was an exciting and exhausting day for Maura!

2008-12-07 Chronicles of Maura, December 7, 2008

It has been some time since Maura came back to New York. She was so excited about spending Christmas time in New York. Most of all, Maura enjoyed spending more time with her mom. Maura made it a point to find her way into her mom's bags right before work. Her mom would pretend that she didn't know that Maura was hiding in the bag. Then she would act surprised when Maura would stick her head out after they had arrived at the workplace.

Here is Maura playing around with Dan. Maura

Melinda noticed that Maura was putting up a target on Dan's chair, and decided to help her.

Melinda decides that Maura needs to sit next to Dan to make sure that he is doing his work properly.

Melinda is the boss! She decides to delegate responsibility to Maura.

Dan doesn't seem to mind at all of Maura's presence.

On this day, Isaac decided to stow away in his mom's bags too. Here is Isaac poking around Becky's desk.

Maura's mom decided to visit Maura's uncle on the weekend. To get to Princeton, they first have to take the subway to Penn Station. Here is Maura carefully studying the metro map.
